Located in Calvert County, Huntingtown is home to about 3500 residents featuring large estate homes in small developments centered around Highway 4. This small town is located between the Chesapeake Bay and the Patuxent River and has a town center and one major public high school called the Huntingtown High. Huntingtown is home to notable political thriller best-selling author Tom Clancy, Harry Krause, and Doug Hill, ABC Channel 7 weatherman.

Huntingtown's Rural and farmland area has limited growth throughout the area but more neighborhoods have built up over the last decade. Residents have tried to keep the area small by maintaining an identity that is known for their legacy of a tobacco town. Even though Huntington does not farm tobacco any longer and has shifted to corn and soybean, they still maintain the identity of a quiet, rural community.

Huntington is known for its privacy and homes with swimming pools. Some residents even call it "pool country". This is the community where most folks know each other by name. However, a lot of people commute to downtown Washington but choose to live in a more rural setting.

"I am a current junior at HHS. These past few years have been a lot of fun! There are many opportunities available for students to be involved at the school. Lots of students attend sporting events, school plays, and are involved in extracurricular activities. We get an hour for lunch and are expected to spend half of lunch eating and the other half doing something productive. This is beneficial to a lot of students. I like using the time to do homework, meet with my teachers and to catch up with friends. The teachers and other staff members at my school are very supportive and are open to the concerns of the students." - (Huntingtown High School)
