Broome’s Island is not actually an island, but a small hamlet located on a peninsula that juts out into the Patuxent River at the end of State Route 264 in Calvert County Maryland. It is a peaceful and quiet neighborhood of south Maryland where tradition and a slower-paced lifestyle on the water are the norm. You will find many families that have lived in the area for years, it is a quintessential small American town on the water, where many people know each other.
This peninsular hamlet got its name from the Brome Family. They owned the land that is now Broomes Island in the 1600s. The community grew in population during the late 1800s as the location became ideal to build a riverfront home.

Len’s Marina
Len’s Marina is the largest and most popular of public attractions in Broomes Island. Len’s has been featured in Chesapeake Bay Magazine and is a family-owned and operated local icon of Broomes Island. At Len’s many local boat owners in Broomes Island and neighboring cities house their boats. In addition to boat slips and storage, there is a double boat ramp, gas dock, and Marina Store. At the store you can find soda, ice cream, candy, bread, milk, sandwiches, meats, beer, win, bait, boating items, snacks, and more.
Stoney’s Seafood House
A great place to enjoy famous Maryland crab cakes and steamed crabs. This has been a favorite local seafood staple for over 20 years. In addition to the perfectly prepared seafood in an amazing riverfront setting, is the fresh-squeezed crush drinks found at the waterfront bar.
