Surf Art Gallery and Museum

The Surf Art Gallery and Museum is located at 5005 Bayside Rd., Chesapeake Beach Maryland. This is recognized by those who know about it as a top cultural site and is a free museum that contains several great rare historic artifacts. Artifacts on display include historical items from the surfing world collected by the surfing legend Bruce Gabrielson over a 60-year span. Enjoy looking at several antique boards, signed posters from surf greats, and several other historical surfing artifacts. Though admission is free, reservations are required.

Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum

This is a combination museum and state park with over 70 archaeological sites dating back to the prehistoric period of 9000 years ago all the way through the colonial period. It is a fun way to take in Maryland’s history.

Annemarie is host to several popular annual festivals and rotating exhibitions.

Calvert Marine Museum and Drum Point Lighthouse

Not so much of a hidden gem but a gem nonetheless in Solomons. There is so much to do you could spend several days and not experience everything. This area preserves the Maritime history of the town and offers several great exhibits, places to explore, and tons of amazing educational programs for children.

Flag Ponds Nature Park

A very quiet and unobstructed place to enjoy South Maryland natural areas located in Lusby Maryland.

Running Hare Vineyard

This Vineyard is one on the Patuxent Wine Trail and is located in Prince Frederick. In addition to the beautiful vineyard there is a movie offered on the big screen outside as a drive-in atmosphere. Movie nights are quite popular and snacks are available for purchase including wine, wine slushies, beer, popcorn and pizza.

A fun spot to take in turn of the century railway history. You can also bike the Chesapeake Bay Railway Trail for some outdoor fun which is near the museum. The museum is small, but full of fun railway history artifacts.
